Why Employers Like Online Education Programs?

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Online education programs are becoming increasing popular among employers. Many companies are likely to give support to their employees who are interested in pursuing a degree or further education through online education programs. Some companies even give scholarships or grants specially dedicated for their employees who enroll into online education programs. Why many employers like online education programs and encourage their employees to pursue their degree online if they are interested to enrich their knowledge with a degree?

Traditionally, if an employee want to further his study, he needs to either quit his job or takes a long unpaid leave in order to go back to school for a degree. If this is the case, employer will need to hire a new staff to replace the leaving employee or he need to find a temporary replacement if the employee is taking a long unpaid leave. It’s inconvenient for the employers if many of their employees want to quit their job and go back to school to get a further degree for their career advancement. Employers definitely do not want to let their experience staffs to leave and keep hiring new staffs and re-train for the vacant positions.

Online education programs have provided a perfect solution to employers. Employees who like to further their study are encouraged to pursue their degree online. Employees who are taking online degree programs will be able to continue their job and their current living style while effectively manage their time for the online courses so that it won’t crash with their working schedule. Flexible, self-pace and study from anywhere and anytime are the key advantages that will benefits both the working individuals and employers. For job that need a lot of traveling, online education program fits in perfectly. It allows the online students to attend the online classes from home or while traveling.

Strong educational background that equip with the required skills in the related field will enable the employees to perform their jobs flawlessly. Now, employers can encourage their employees to earn a job related degree to gain more knowledge on their working field and be prepared for more challenging tasks. IBM, one of bigger corporate players is continuously encourage their employees especially managers and senior management team to pursue their MBA through distance learning programs. IBM commented that they needs a wide range of qualified managers at all level and that online education approach is the only one that is feasible in terms of cost, time and numbers.

Many companies do allocate scholarships and grants for their employees who are interested to further their study. Among these scholarships, some are dedicated specially for online students. Fund allocations for employees who study online are increasing showing more employers are encouraging online education to their employees.

Summary

More and more employers are encouraging their employees who like to further study to pursue their degree through online education programs. Employers like online education program because it provides a perfect solution for employers to allow their employee to enrich their knowledge in their job related field while retain their employees at their company.

Spanish Schools – What is Education in Spain Like?

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Obviously, if you have children and you wish to move to Spain, then the schooling of your children will be your most important priority.

In fact, the overall welfare of your children will probably be the deciding factor as to whether any move to Spain is actually possible and their educational needs may define where you live. Certainly it is true to say that the happiness of your children in Spain will be critical to the success of your relocation. If children are unhappy then this can place tremendous stress upon the adults within a family – to the point at which it can strain a previously good working relationship.

Fortunately, education in Spain is good, albeit that (like the UK) considerable care is required if you are to obtain the best possible results. Of course, the big difference in Spain for a child is that they will be taught in Spanish (and sometimes in a regional dialect, such as Valenciano). As few North European children speak Spanish, it makes their entry into the Spanish schools system sensitive and it can mean that it takes a while for your child to settle. That said, it is extraordinary how fast children pick up a new language and I have only ever known one child unable to learn Spanish.

Of course, timing has a huge part to play when it comes to placing a child into normal (not international) Spanish schools. Without doubt, the younger a child the easier it is for them to assimilate Spanish and to therefore get to grips with education in Spain and the academic work itself. A far greater problem is faced by older children and experience has shown that there is an age at which children find it, to all intents and purposes, impossible to both learn a new language and deal with the demands of increasingly complicated academic work. In essence, the danger time for moving a child into Spanish schools (if they speak no Spanish) is when they are around 12 – 13 years old. Earlier than that and most children will easily learn the language and be able to catch up with the academic work. Older, and it will become difficult (to impossible), for them to keep up with their peers – and not to be able to do so will be demoralising and damaging during a vulnerable time of their lives.

Education in Spain for children is compulsory from the ages of 6 to 16, with primary education lasting 6 years – followed by four years of compulsory secondary education at the end of which a Certificate of Education is received. State Spanish schools are free and normally school uniform is not worn. However, the purchase of school books is the responsibility of parents and can be quite costly (around 300 Euros per child per year). After the age of 16, children can continue with their education in Spain and go to vocational institutes or study for the academically demanding (and highly regarded) Bachillerato. The latter takes two years and is needed should a child wish to attend university.

State schools tend to be as variable as in the UK and much depends upon the precise intake area. It is therefore always wise to check very carefully the reputation of what may become your local Spanish school. Of course, there are private Spanish schools which can often be a very wise choice. These can provide a superb education in Spain within environments that are controlled, safe and that have high aspirations for their students. They provide terrific value for money compared to the cost of their UK (for example) counterparts and, if you can afford it, are well worth using for your children. Fees (2008) vary considerably but can be around 350 euros per month (10 months).

Equally, Spain has a scattering of international schools which provide, in English, a British curriculum. Oddly enough, these Spanish schools frequently have a high proportion of Spanish children, as the wealthy Spanish have a strong urge to ensure that their children are completely fluent in Spanish. They are particularly pertinant if you wish to move to Spain and your children are over the age of 12. As a parent with two children, I have been very impressed by the standard of education in Spain – and my son now is attending university having passed the Bachillerato. This has been a tremendous success (he started Spanish schooling when he was 13) and proof that the existing system of education in Spain works for foreigners!

Teaching While Learning

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

The most essential way of being a parent is spending their time with their children. From our infant stage to adult stage, they are always there for us. Our parents were the one who first taught us from how to count numbers down to managing maturity. We grow independently as we have acquired our parents’ teaching of good moral conduct. This is ever so important for us because we will carry this until we are living here in this world.

One of the instruments in learning is through reading books. For school age children, this is a teaching material in which children could easily learn with the use of images, drawings and pictures that delivers important message. This is a great approach for the children because, while they are learning they are also having fun. In this way, they will not experience stress and anxiety while in the midst of acquiring new things. Most of the schools, centers or even at kid’s workshops, they provide books with high standards of learning for the child to achieve his/her learning process. Teaching approach must be unique and exciting. With this kind of approach, children are more likely to participate and will attentively respond to things that will be taught to them.

As we grow, our learning process changes but the value of teaching does not. The images, pictures and bright colors will stay and the best thing for this is that, it stimulates every learners to motivate themselves to acquire those information being delivered. Many of the younger generations will recognize this as the best way in pursuing students to learn new and basic things. The biggest part that matters is that your desire to learn on those teaching strategies. You will not learn until you have the passion to learn. Teaching must be useless without its learning. That is why, learning and teaching is interrelated with each other.

Upon entering school, we are taught of the good things that we should do in life, we can’t go on with our life until we could surpass all those challenges that life brings. This is comparable when you are to enter school or in a university. They will offer LSAT tutoring for you to be able to pass their exam. You can’t continue unless you have gain great scores for this. The teaching method will give you standardized test taking strategies and techniques in finding better ways of solving the entire test problems.

Every establishments, private or public are also engaged with new technology of teaching and learning. This instructional technology provides them ways to create a good teaching environment for their learning satisfaction. This is not only design for them but also for some people who are used to have several learning approaches in technology. Educational references for teaching has an opportunity to integrate every people who are very interested in gaining more knowledge and acquiring more skills.

Always remember that our first teacher is our parents. They are the ones who sustain our daily needs. Because of them, we are not just like what we are now. From infancy to maturity, from our first day of school to the achievements in our profession, our parents are there to support and help us to withstand our goals and dreams.

Idealism and Philosophy (and Education on Both)

Monday, November 7th, 2011

Before we begin it is important to understand the basic definitions of Idealism and Philosophy. Education in these two areas is very rare in modern society, although we will teach children Social Studies in grade 2, the basic questions of Who am I and Why am I here are left until much later (often university). When you mention the idea of philosophy you are usually met with bored expressions and a complete lack of interest. Why? Because these questions are very dangerous to the society we have built and live in.

Idealism is defined as the view that the existence of objects depends wholly or in part on the minds of those perceiving them. This definition is not complete by any means, in fact those who truly explore Idealistic concepts often come to the point where physical reality is nothing more than symbolism for the workings of the mind. This might sound strange and a little far-fetched but that is only because we are used to one particular view of the world, to explore another view would require a great deal of courage and the acceptance that You are not simply an accumulation of your beliefs.

Philosophy is defined as the rational investigation of questions about existence and knowledge and ethics. Nothing about the realm of Philosophy states that it must lead you to Idealism yet, for those who explore philosophy deeply enough, it often does. Philosophy was once looked upon as one of our species highest callings. Socrates, Plato, and other familiar names are familiar for exactly this reason; they were respected, admired, and seen as brilliant to those willing to listen to their words. Sad to say, society was very different back then.

Unfortunately it is impossible to explore all of the concepts and ideas involved in Philosophy in just one short article, but that doesn’t mean you cannot go looking for yourself. It is important to remember though that not every “would-be philosopher” is worth listening to. An easy way to discern who is and who is not thinking clearly about existence and knowledge is to see how much they boost their own self-importance.

Look for the humble, serious philosophers such as Jiddu Krishnamurti (who rejected the offer to be named Messiah in the early 1900′s) and Alan Watts. Find some of their videos, their books, and a website focused on discussing the concepts and ideas that are the root of their many lectures and books. It is important to get familiar with Idealism and Philosophy, and education in these fields will reveal why it is so important. There is a whole other multi-layered facet to life that needs to be explored in our modern society; our growth as a human being, a species and a culture depends on it.

Activities For Teaching Vocabulary

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

Engaging young minds is most effective when learning is fun. Introducing new concepts through new methods draws and keeps attention. Activities for teaching vocabulary can be just as enjoyable. As the key partner to comprehensive in a child’s learning journey, vocabulary requires retention. And retention is fueled by activities that build memory and cognitive skills.

For example, rhyming is a powerful tool in building retention. Exercises with rhyming words is just one of the activities for building vocabulary used in this accessible and fun e-book program. The activities will support your child’s learning of parts of the body, manners, what baby animals are called, and much more. In addition, the activities relate to practical matters, such as what objects are used for particular tasks, in what order things occur, what individual does what jobs, and what various places are called. Word Gymnastics will stretch the possibilities for a stronger vocabulary, encouraging your child to explore new words, their meanings, and how to use them in writing and speaking.

Building vocabulary encourages the learning of more words through reading. Increasing vocabulary supports reading comprehension as genuine understanding of new and increasingly complex words is achieved. A child equipped with a great capacity through vocabulary will be less intimidated about choosing a more challenging book on library, in having conversations with older children and adults, and in growing her writing skills. Vocabulary supports confidence and is one of the keys for success in life and work. Starting your child on the right foot in the vocabulary journey is just the beginning, but setting the stage for him to find the right word for the future school and work projects that lie ahead is invaluable.

Convenient printable worksheets provide parents and teachers with easy tools for reinforcing learning through Word Gymnastics. The worksheets provide parents with a traceable means to teach and build vocabulary. You will find the principles shared in our e-book can be applied in your continuing work with your child as new capacity for language and the words that comprise it grows.

Scuba Police is Watching – Value of Continuing Education

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

You are certified to go scuba diving now and ready to take on the world. At that point your scuba instructor will bring up the next class again, Advanced Open Water. Some will say, “Why can’t I go and just scuba dive since I am certified”. This is true. There is no “Scuba Police” sitting there waiting to give you a ticket like they do when you are driving. However, think about this in a little different perspective. After you are trained in the class and pool you need to do four open water dives with an instructor to demonstrate that you remember everything you were taught. All you need to do is four dives. Most people remember being teenagers or have teenagers close enough to relate. Imagine a teenager jumping on the highway after only four times driving behind the wheel in the real environment. Can it be done with no harm? Sure, but most of us would not count on it. If they make it back OK, it is the parents who will have this pain of worry of what could go wrong.

My point here is to emphasize value in continuing education and diving with the supervision of a scuba instructor. As you head out on your journey of scuba diving you will gain more experience and knowledge under the wing of a scuba instructor. Just like anything else, the lesson is so much greater with a mentor than striking it out on your own. The scuba instructor will provide you insight that would take you hundreds of dives to get a good handle on. Plus, the scuba instructor will share their own stories with you. Everyone loves stories that we can relate to.

There are things from each course you will take with you on your own dives. I guarantee that with most of the dives you are on will be able to implement something from each course you take, beyond the open water class. This could be from tying a knot on a shipwreck that you learned in your search and recovery class. Maybe you are in the middle of the quarry and you were ‘turned around’ due to the excitement of an underwater object and you grab your compass to take a reading to get back to shore. Or maybe you are out in the beautiful ocean on vacation and you see a newer diver go through stages from excited to worried way to fast. Without letting things go too far that will create some type of injury you make an approach to help the diver with what they need without making the diver’s worry noticeable. You would have never be able to do this without taking the rescue diver class after your Advanced Open Water class. Who would have guessed you needed anything you learned?

Now you can see some of the value of continuing on in classes you know you will enjoy. You never know you just might enjoy the challenge that comes with these classes and move yourself through the Professional ranks like I did. Others will just continue learning and becoming a more confident diver. That is something you cannot put a price tag on. You can enjoy years of endless excitement and relaxation.

Physical Therapy Continuing Education – How to Assess for Lumbar Spine Dysfunctions

Friday, November 4th, 2011

Many hours, both in Physical Therapy school and Physical Therapy Continuing Education courses, are dedicated to learning how to access patients. We recently interviewed one of the leading rehab experts in regards to how he assesses the lumbar spine. Here are some of the questions and answers.

Interviewer: If we switch gears here to more assessment, can you describe how you assess lumbar spine patients?

Spine Rehab Expert: Yes. It’s probably not what people would expect a standard fare. If I’m really needing to sort out a back it will take me about three hours and it begins with an interview. I ask the patient about their pain patterns. What they perceive is causing the pain, in terms of activities, and motions, postures, and loads. What can they do without getting pain? When they roll over in bed, for example, do they get sharp pains? That would be an indication of unloaded spine instability, for example. So, we have a set of questions like that, probing them to try to understand the nature of their pain. Also other things, like what do they currently do for their back? What therapies have they tried in the past that haven’t worked, and this kind of thing.

Then we watch their movement habits, and this is huge. We watch from the very second they enter the waiting room. How are they’re sitting for example. Patients often sit in a way that causes their back pain. It’s almost paradoxical. If someone is flexion intolerant, they sit in flexion. If they’re extension intolerant they almost always sit in extension. So, that’s a huge clue. Simply watching them get out of the chair. If you know the signs you’ll see if they have gluteal deficiency and are hamstring dominant, for example, which is a very common pattern of those who’ve had chronic pain.

Then we watch them walk. Then if they are say an electrician, we might be watching them bend over, get down to the floor, get back up again, all this kind of thing. If they’re a sportsman or an athlete we will ask them to perform some of the athletic moves that are both painless and painful. So, these are signature movement patterns or habits that quite often, if they are not changed, will thwart the recovery of the patient.

Interviewer: Right.

Spine Rehab Expert: So, now we’ve understood what causes their pain and we’ve got some good ideas on taking it away. We now prove it with provocative testing. We try to provoke their pain. Does this make you worse? If they say, “yes” now we’re starting to fine tune it and hone in on levels, specific levels of their tolerance and capacity.

All of this is now used to guide the design of corrective and therapeutic exercise. Correct the patterns, the habitual patterns that are causing their pain and within their tolerance, and then design a progression; a therapeutic exercise starting off with corrective exercises. Stabilize those elements that need stabilizing. Mobilize those elements that are too stiff perhaps.

Then move into endurance training which has to found all strength. Adding more strength to a painful back is usually problematic in that strength, in the literature, doesn’t prevent future back troubles. The reason, as we’ve discovered, is you can take a strong person and they can do three or four perfect repetitions of a strength move and they are protected. On the sixth rep they’re starting to fatigue and they break form a little bit. That’s the time that they get their bad back. So, if you’re going to give repetitions of strength the patient or athlete absolutely has to have the endurance underneath to ensure perfect form.

Then once that is achieved we can move onto the real performance variable such as power and speed and that kind of thing. So, that’s a synopsis of the assessment and the progression through exercise.
