Co – education is the recent system of education where girls sit and study along with boys in same classes and in a common college. This system was not popular in ancient schools and colleges. The boys try all sorts of motions, gestures and songs to attract the attention of the girls. Even the girls tempt the boys for all sorts of indiscipline. Boys do not come for the teachers in the class. They keep combing their hair off and on and waster their time. The boys and girls all try to show themselves as heroes and heroines respectively and are mostly running to cinemas to see latest movies. The educational institutions start presenting a look of fashion parades. All sorts of unsocial and undesireable habits are developed and students forget to listen to their elders or teachers. In such an atmosphere, one cannot expect a good quality character.

Co – education is considered better from social point of view in spite of its various defects as explained above. Such a system of education gives an opportunity to understand each other’s problems and, therefore, can co-operate better in achievement of respective goals. A healthy spirit of working and competing is created by co – education. The boys try to keep a polite and gentle character so as to give a good impression to their girls class – fellows. During their long period of education, they can better understand each other’s psychology and even can choose their life partners from among their class – fellows. In this way, problem of parents to select a suitable match for their children is also solved. The boy and girl educated together make the best match due to their broad attitude towards life and closer understanding of each other’s habits and manners of living, likes and dislikes.

Co – education provides economical and advanced education to girl students. This is because same amount of money is invested to upgrade or provide better equipments and infrastructure in schools and colleges. Otherwise, funds would get diverted for constructing separate schools and colleges for girls. Further, in a free democratic country like India, we cannot deny education to girls along with boys, the girls must also be equally educated. However, where girls students take interest in greater numbers towards studies, there, special separate institutions can be established to impart education of each level and in various professions.

Co – education seems to be good at primary level and higher level in colleges. But due care must be taken at high school and inter-classes where lot of physical and mental changes take place naturally in children. Students must be guided properly to avoid their going astray. Separation between girls and boys can be made taking them into confidence and making them understand any implications. As such, at high school level, co – education can be imparted with able guidance and care. At university level, boys and girls get matured to understand good or bad of each other. So co – education can be very useful from social and economic point of view if given under proper care and guidance.

This means that with online education the student has far greater responsibility for their own learning. 1. Honesty must be valued.

This seems obvious, but here is what I’ve seen happen time and time again. Parents in a family like the IDEA of truth telling, but not the HARD WORK of honesty. If you value honesty, you will make being honest a priority each and every day. It is what you do, far less than what you say, that carries weight with your children.

If you are not valuing telling the truth in your family, neither will your children. Period.

2. Develop a culture of honesty.

This second point flows naturally from the first point. Once you decide that you are going to make honesty a priority in your home, look for ways to incorporate truthfulness in your everyday life. Instead of only focusing on behavior that involves lying, emphasize truthful behavior everywhere you see it. This will show both you and your child how vital a foundation of truthfulness is in daily living and that throwing the occasional lie in the mix is like throwing a wrench into a smoothly running machine, causing problems far more difficult to solve than the original issue.

3. Be consistent.

Teaching your children to tell the truth is not a one time conversation. This is a lifestyle decision which means you will need to examine your own actions in light of being honest. Do you believe there is ever a time to tell a lie that’s acceptable? What ethics are involved in that decision? Is that decision made for your benefit or for the benefit of others?

These are difficult questions, but wrestling with them will clarify your own position on honesty and ready you to help your child work through these same ethical issues as they grow.

If you find you have trouble being consistent in your own honesty and you’d like to change that, help yourself consider new points of view by studying religious and philosophical books on the subject. Start a discussion with other parents like yourself who want to bring up their children in a conscientious manner also.

4. Use examples.

Literature is filled with examples of both honesty and dishonesty. So is our modern culture. Movies, songs, television shows and the local newspaper show the consequences of people who have not decided to be honest in a variety of ways.

Talk to your kids about these examples. Learn to observe when people are telling the truth and when they are lying. Help your kids to think about how they feel when someone is dishonest with them. To foster discussion, you can ask that each member of your family notice one act of honesty or dishonesty each day and be ready to discuss that information at the dinner table. This type of activity is invaluable in creating the culture of honesty we talked about above.

ACL related Physical Therapy continuing education courses have taught us there are four factors, that can be addressed through exercise, that decrease the risk of anterior cruciate ligament injuries in the female athlete. We recently interviewed an ACL expert to expand on this. Here is what he had to say.

Interviewer: So we now know about ligament dominance, quadriceps dominance, leg dominance and trunk dominance. Is there anything we can do about these things?

ACL Expert: So, we think these four neuromuscular imbalances underlie these four mechanisms that relate to ACL injury risk that we see more often in than males, in females.

So, what I’ve been talking about so far is really the bad news of this entire situation.

Interviewer: Okay.

ACL Expert: The good news is that – you know people have conjectured for years that this is really related to female anatomy; wider hips or a greater quadriceps angle, and they’ve thrown out that it’s related to hormones, it’s related to the estrogen surge in the middle of the menstrual cycle and that’s what leads to a weaker ACL and greater injury risk.

There’s no doubt that this is a multi-factoral problem, however, our findings related to these neuromuscular imbalances give us all hope because neuromuscular control is one thing we can readily change. Women can adapt to interventions and neuromuscular control training that can make them better, that can reduce not only these neuromuscular imbalances that we’ve shown in the lab – in the mid-’90s we did a series of studies where we showed we could use neuromuscular control training to alter and reduce some of these neuromuscular imbalances that I talked about, actually all of them, and then we could take those exact same interventions out onto the field and drop relative injury risk by about half.

Interviewer: Wow.

ACL Expert: That’s the good news in all this. Yes, these findings that it is primary neuromuscular is really good because that’s the one area – we really can’t alter anatomy and we don’t really want to play around with hormones too much without getting ourselves in a fair amount of trouble. But, neuromuscular control we can alter and we can do that.

The only sort of side effect of neuromuscular training is a more athletic individual. So, the side effects you get out of this training, in attempts to reduce these relative neuromuscular control deficits, is you get not only probably a safer athlete with an effect size of about 50 percent, but in these young women who have low powered engines relative to the size of their machine you increase that power and control and relative muscle recruitment, and you also not only have maybe a 50 percent reduction in risk, you have anywhere between a 10, 20, 100 percent increase in power and neuromuscular control, depending on what you’re looking at. That’s the good side effect you get out of this training.

It’s also very similar to what you do – what we did is we took these exercises from athletic development training, from rehab, and they work well not only to create greater neuromuscular control and potentially lower risk, but also a more balanced, more powerful, more in control athlete.

There were many myths and misconceived notions about online education until recent past. Some people believed that online learning is a good option only for students who have a good track record.
